I want to say Happy Monday, but I have a snarl on my face right now LMAO!! As I have to un-glue myself from my mattress every Monday morning to begrudgingly start the work week, I hope it goes by faster than last week did! The weekend was fairly nice, Friday I met up with a friend of mine I haven’t seen in a long while! She has married and had a child since last we hung out and is trying to get her ‘girl’ time back on track. It’s so important not to lose your own sense of identify when you take on the additional hats of ‘wife’ and ‘mom’. We all need our time to unwind and hangout with friends. It’s great to have supportive hubbies and other family members that can allow for a day off every now and again. Saturday, I spent some time with another married friend of mine, and finally on Sunday had brunch with my single gal pals. I really had the goal of getting out of the house more this year and I must say, I am keeping up with it 🙂
I’ve wanted a chambray dress for the longest time but I could never seem to find one that I liked. I just happened to be shopping for something specific at Express when I happened to spot this number on the way to the dressing room. Chambray dresses are pretty versatile, so it wasn’t a bad find at all. I always love the layered look of rocking a moto jacket with a flannel shirt tied to the waist, so being that there was an extra chill in the air in Newport Beach, Cali on this day, I opted for this look. As the weather returns to normal around these parts, I’ll have to find other ways to wear this, probably with some stacked heels, wedges and even sneakers. Hope you guys have an amazing start to your week!
I am soo0 late getting this post live. It’s been such a busy fun packed weekend, I was never home long enough to get my act together until now. Today is rest day, for tomorrow I go back to work! Today’s look is perfect for date night. Funny I would even pick this topic since it’s been so long since I’ve been on a date that I can hardly remember what those are! LOL Anyone else going through the same dry spell? Please don’t tell me I’m all alone in this! For first dates especially, it’s important to keep it simple, classy yet subtly sexy. Leave something to the imagination but show him what you’re working with, a bit, with a nice pair of distressed skinny jeans that hug in all the right places! Ladies, show him what all these months of squats and deadlifts at the gym have gotten you! WINK WINK 🙂 This is also where any portofino top from Express comes in, they give your denim a nice dressed up vibe paired with a hot pair of heels. Don’t make them too high though, unless you’re use to walking in 5 inch heels because the last thing you want to do in front your potential beau is stumble or fall. GASP! Leopard is always a great mix with mostly any pattern or color top. Here’s hoping that 2016 ends our dating dry spell and may we all find a handsome and nice hunk of a man to have many a date night with! Cheers to us friends!
Ever get dressed up, leave the house and then realize as you are half way down the road running late for an appointment that you failed to put any type of jewelry on your arms and fingers? Yeah, me neither! LOL As you can see in my pics below I did just that! However, I did remember to rock this dainty and pretty silver Topaz necklace custom-made by the folks at Anjolee. They can customize all kinds of jewelry including diamond wedding rings *gasp*. What girl not only dreams about that perfect engagement ring, but definitely has her eye and heart set on one that is designed with her in mind and looks like no other? The bling on this site has me drooling now I just need one of those lovely girl meets boy, girl falls in love with boy, and boy proposes to girl type of situations and I’m all set! Hope you guys have a great weekend 🙂
****July 14,2015 10:16 p.m. Guys, my dad passed suddenly yesterday. As you can imagine I am trying my best to cope with this tremendous loss along with my family, so I will be offline for several days. Please keep us in your prayers. Thank you. ****
Happy Monday friends! Glad you are stopping by 🙂 Hope you had a quiet weekend. Mine was pretty quiet. I returned to the gym after two weeks off due to vacationing and I have to say it took some getting used to. My trainer kicked my butt and I didn’t miss it at all! As I always say vanity keeps me coming back for more LOL. I sort of low-key envy folk who are die-hard gym fanatics and love going in. For me, it’s a necessary evil.
So about today’s look, I’ve found myself shopping at Gap and Abecrombie & Fitch lately. Believe or not, I’ve just recently figure out what size I wear in denim, I’m so used to buying jeans that have sizes 0,2 and 4 on them that I never knew what that translated to when I’m looking at those in the double digits. There’s nothing like a great pair of well-fitting jeans, so now I’m a bit addicted to Gap Jeans, as well as the many cute items they sell online at A&F. The high waist and crop combo works so well in a lot of different looks. Whether you are talking pants and crops or skirts with crops. For those of us uncomfortable with baring our tummy’s or just a tad bit conservative, this works pretty well and a flash of tummy is just as sexy! 😉
I can do cartwheels right now I’m so happy to see Friday! I’m sitting here on my bed catching up on Comcast’s Watchathon week and stumble upon MTV’s original series “Finding Carter”.. okay why am I instantly hooked??!! Then I find myself laughing hysterically because this is just what I need, one more show to add to the other thousand my dvrs ingest every day. Pray for me ya’ll; I need group therapy for sure!
Today’s look is a little something from one of the “cooler” S. Fl days *chuckles* It has actually been sitting on my camera for a while now. Not sure how I feel about the pics but oh well, too late now…I already hit the publish button! These pics do remind me of two things that survived the winter and are now a part of the spring season trends : layering & plaids. Since it takes a bit for the winter chill to totally leave, a light jacket or blazer are a chic wardrobe addition that if needed, you can take off later in the day when the temp goes up. You can also still rock ginghams and plaids in the lighter material that have been in vogue for the spring. I’m actually in the market for a light plaid so if you see any, please holla at me! Enjoy gals and I hope your weekend is awesome 🙂 Kisses! Besos! Bisous!
We are officially at the hump, I’m starting to feel the call of the weekend! We are all breathing a slight sigh of relief here at the schools…our 3d grade babies have finally completed their high stakes testing period for this school year. Now we bite our nails waiting for the scores *le sigh*.
On to something much more fun! During my spring break, I finally made it out to the Wynwood Arts district in Miami. I’m always getting tagged to great festivals and other events in this area so I just wanted to check it out. It’s a pretty hip area and it’s within driving distance of so many posh and hipster art gallery, restaurants and all of this DOPE art. I decided to go for a bit of a hip hop B girl (refers to one who devotes themselves to the culture of hip hop; a breakdancer) chic look myself, rocking a striped pencil skirt and my favorite pair of high top chucks. Hope your hump day is a good one! See you soon dolls! Kisses! Besos! Bisous!
Doesn’t it seem like every month is zooming by in 2015? Summer will be upon us before we know it! Today, I’m into a little pattern mixing with the same colors (black & white). This polka dot midi skirt I got from ASOS several months back is one of my favorites simply because it’s made of the softest cotton ever! It’s so comfortable. I really like the way stripes and polka dots look against each other. I think this look would work no matter the size of the polka dots, the bigger the better! My teacher friends often ask me why I dress up to go to work and my response is always this : 1) This is a profession, so we should all dress as professionals not as baby sitters 2) I love dressing up, it’s actually the highlight of my day 3) I come from an office environment prior to entering the classroom so my closet has more of that type of clothing rather than casual wear … at the end of the day the clothes make the woman/man don’t they? Well, I hope you guys have an awesome and speedy week. Until next time…Kisses! Besos! Bisous!
Today’s look features an oldie but goodie. I found this darling banded sheath dress at Ross some time ago and pulled it out as a remix piece. The satin band around the waist gives it a touch of elegance for the work place. You could also rock it to an after work happy hour with a sleek pair of heels and no blouse underneath with a statement necklace and clutch. I’m always overjoyed when I find dresses and skirts with pockets. I don’t know why all of them don’t come that way LOL. Places like Ross, Marshall’s and TJ Maxx really do have some hidden treasures, I don’t make it out to them much since I do most of my shopping online but when I do, I always find something great to show for my trip. In the shopping section below, since the dress featured isn’t currently for sale, I’ve found some gorgeous gray numbers that caught my eye. Grey is a beautiful shade and pairs well with so many other colors from light to dark, so you really can’t go wrong. Have you been to either of these stores lately? What hidden treasure did you find? Until next time! Kisses! Besos! Bisous!
P.S. I will be posting tomorrow on behalf of “The Shopping Bag”…stay tuned!
Don’t you love when you find pieces that not only look comfy but feel absolutely luxurious on? This look is just that. We used to have a Rampage store in the Boca Raton Town Center Mall back when I used to work at FAU and I found this lovely fuzzy and comfy sweater there. The cut and color are what drew me in and I’m amazed at how much I love this sweater still 🙂 The skirt is equally as comfortable, I purchased it from SAKS several months back and I’m finding that it pairs well with several items. Today, I married these two pieces and I really like the outcome! It’s perfect for one of our S. Fl winter days where it’s sunny and brisk just enough for a sweater or light jacket. Do you have any comfy pieces in your closet that you are in love with as well? Do share! Kisses! Besos! Bisous!
Hope you’re enjoying a day off friends. I love a well dressed man but I also adore men’s clothing on women! After all, what ever they do, we do better don’t we dolls? 🙂 Today’s look features my spin on menswear. Remember the Natural Hair and Beauty Expo I attended a few months back? If not, you can visit it here. So there were quite a few vendors there and one of them was Mr. Stephen Gaskins CEO of That’s a Gentleman. He specializes in hand-made bow-ties and matching pocket squares. This man has such skills with a sewing machine, he also makes other pieces for men. I instantly fell in love with his bow-ties and picked up this camo one I’m wearing today. I always love a man in a tux with his bow-tie undone at the end of the evening, it’s just sexy…so I left my tie undone as well. I’m also rocking a studded leather cuff, made by Cuffed Designs who also specializes in menswear. Do you rock men’s clothing? Which masculine pieces do you like to wear? Until next time. Kisses! Besos! Bisous!
