Distressed White Denim: Weekend Style

Hey guys,

I’ve been away on vacation for the last two weeks and I swear upon coming back, I instantly felt like I needed a vacation from my vacation (insert tired emoji face here). I had an absolutely amazing time with my family in Atlanta and then at Martha’s Vineyard so the fatigue is totally worth it!

Today I’m wearing this distressed white denim look. I don’t know who decided to call off the ban of wearing white after the Labor Day holiday but I surely appreciate it. White is one of those colors that always look fantastic on, is a great baseline for any and every other pop of color and looks absolutely stunning against any complexion.  Might be something to the reason why a lot of men enjoy wearing a crisp white tee with their denim and sneakers. These fringe heels seem to be getting a lot of wear over the summer as well, I definitely need to get the flats but haven’t decided on what color I should get…decisions, decisions! The summer seems to be passing me by pretty quickly! I walked into Walmart yesterday and they had the nerve to already have Back to School supplies up. WTF! Can they let me live! LOL  I hope you guys have an amazing week!

Kisses! Besos! Bisous!

Black Cutoffs + Sleeveless Duster: Weekend Style

Hey guys,

So let’s talk about cutoff shorts, they seem to be even more popular this season and they’ve gotten even shorter. What we used to call Daisy Dukes has nothing on these denim “panties”.  They do however, have an appeal don’t they?  Not only are they majorly cute but add some rips and shreds and I couldn’t resist stocking a few in my closet.  For those of us who are a bit self conscious of showing too much skin, you can offset this by wearing a long duster, cardigan, blazer, etc. All look just as stunning with a much like these black cutoffs I’m wearing today and some killer heels.   No better way to make us short girls look like we have legs for days!

Happy belated Father’s Day to all the wonderful men in your lives!

Waterfall Blazers : Transitional style for work or play

Hey guys,

Okay, I’ll go ahead and put it out there from the beginning. I am obsessed with this waterfall blazer! I found it on final mark down at H&M for a mere $15 and it has become my favorite blazer. I simply love the way it hangs and the ruche sleeves make it perfect to push up to the elbow. You know when you love an article of clothing, you literally want to wear it all the time, like every day? LOL So here I’m sporting it with an over-sized graphic tee from Express and leather leggings also from H&M. What I love about this look is that it may be perfect for a casual Friday at work but you can also take it straight from the workplace to Happy Hour or a Date Night with a handsome somebody.

In other news, now that we’re on the subject of handsome somebodies..one of my goals this year was to leave the house more and put myself out there in hopes of meeting a special someone or at least get back into the dating scene and meeting people. I mean there is no way to meet a nice gentleman if I don’t leave the house right? Last I checked they didn’t make house calls! So, I’ve had a blast just hanging out a bit more and attending events practically every weekend. You don’t realize how much stress you need to release from the work week until you are out there doing it. Sometimes it’s so much easier to just go home and lay on the couch binge watching your favorite TV shows, it’s also extremely safe! That’s always my go-to but I’ve had to kick myself in the tush and commit to this.  In order to get what we want out of life we have to be willing to take risk don’t we?  So far I haven’t met Mr. Right  BUT I must say the search has still been quite fun.

Midi Skirt & Zippered Denim

Happy Hump Day,

The hustle and bustle of the Thanksgiving travel, and shopping season are upon us. Folks are everywhere on our S. Florida streets. I was just happy to head straight home from work and even had the chance to relax a bit and catch up on some of my shows. So today, I’m sharing two more looks whose pics I overall wasn’t feeling. As you can see I’m having one of those weeks picture wise. LOL! I’m feeling what I’m wearing, but I’m not feeling the camera being in my face and posing LOL.

In the first look, I’m wearing a tee I purchased in support of a Natural Hair company. I love rocking tees with quirky or clever sayings as well as anything focused on natural hair. The second look is my favorite of the two because I really like how pulled together monochromatic looks are. The zippered denim is one of my favorites of the several pairs of black denim I own.  I think I”ll rock this look next time with some leopard heels and matching clutch. For the fall I can also see wearing these jeans with a cute poncho and booties. The possibilities are endless when you are trying to pair black denim.  Hope you enjoy the rest of your week friends!

July 4th Fun!

TGIF Friends,

So I am just waking up this morning and realizing I didn’t hit the publish button on this post! HA! Guess I was having too much fun yesterday hanging out with a friend that flew in from out-of-town to spend some time with me this weekend! Sooooo, here it is, a fun relaxed look for the fourth. Tomorrow I’ll be spending it handing on the Ft. Lauderdale Beach boardwalk, they have activities all day long with food, live music and finally fireworks so this would be a great look to just chill or even throw on a bikini under if I cared to hit the water.   I find myself living in cut offs this summer because they are so easy to pair with any top whether it’s a cami, crop, or  button down. You really can’t go wrong with denim bottoms. Distressed ones are my favorites. Also, I am obsessed with gladiator sandals, somehow they dress up an outfit very nicely. I’ve seen some hot ones on a lot of bloggers lately and I’m loving the trend.  Happy 4th of July friends, hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Kisses! Besos! Bisous!

Animal Print + Midi Skirt

Hey friends,

Today will be my last post for the next week and a half. I am taking some time off to travel a bit! I will still be updating my IG but am hanging up my blog shoes for a bit 🙂

Today’s look is a remix of some goodies from the closet. None of the pieces are available, however I have found some similar items for the Shop My Look section below, in case you are interested 🙂 I feel like a cast member from Happy Days ( I know I’m dating myself), and I would have totally dated “The Fonze” back in his hay days LOL.  Anyway I love the 50s vibe this look gives off with a bit of modern twist. It’s been awhile since I’ve worn any of my midi skirts so I had to break one out and give it a spin. Hope you like 🙂

C’est La Vie

Welcome back friends!

I had an awesome weekend.  Made a few new friends, hung out with old friends and laughed a lot. Saturday would have been even more awesome had I not been confined to remaining close to home due to an electrician that was supposed to come to my house and never showed up! Grrrr 🙁

So let’s talk about this look! Always love a good graphic tee, this C’est La Vie one is from J.Crew Factory. Their stuff runs big on me so I’m always struggling whether or not to get a small or an extra small, but it worked out just fine with the xs. I’m sure I’ll get a lot of wear out of this tee whether I continue to dress it up or rock it with pair of nice chucks. I’m finding a lot of my looks really pair well with this Christian Lacroix bag so I must say I’m in love with. I should have gotten the black one when I purchased this one from Nordstrom Rack because now I can’t find them anyway *le sigh*. Finally, I’ve been a bit of a Purple Peridot addict as of late, thanks Amy Ann 🙂  they have so many cool items and their daily markdowns are the bomb.com! So say something to me in the comment section below, don’t be a stranger!

BGU

TGIF!

By the end of today, I will literally have 17 days left to the school year. I’m beyond excited! I see an abundance of “me” time, girl time and single girl time in the near future! I’ll probably spend the first week being the biggest bum you’ve ever seen LOL (DJM). Today’s look features this cool graphic tee I got from the Natural Hair Expo I blogged about here.  What is Black Girl University you ask?  It’s educating yourself about your roots (your hair roots that is!).  This whole revolution of women, specifically black women falling in love with their hair for the first time is fairly new. For years we have always gotten the message from outside and from within that our kinky, curly, coily hair wasn’t straight enough, long enough, or silky enough and we brought into it HEAVY.  Obsessed with perms, hot combing, flat ironing…you name it, we’ve done it… from weaves and beyond. I’m sure all women can relate to some extent, especially those of you who have naturally curly hair. Wash day alone is a cumbersome task OMG! Having to wash thick curly hair is no joke.  Black women are and have become much more educated about our natural hair and many are proud to rock it in all it’s glory. My journey has been a process as well, I’m still learning so much about my hair and what it likes and dislikes (yes, she has a mind of her own!).  No two heads of hair are alike but whether your coils are loose or tightly wound…we are all becoming BGU graduates with a new-found degree in self-love!

April Recap

Hi everyone,

Happy Monday! It’s already time for another outfit recap, I feel like I just did the one for March yesterday LOL. The months are flying by and I don’t mind because that’s one step closer to summer vacation! One thing I noticed in all of my pics for this month,  I had my hands on my hips a LOT! I also have a little bit of chambray and stripes thing going this past month. So let’s bid April farewell and hope that this month is speedy, fun and fashionable!  Make it a great one friends 🙂

B Girl Stance @ Wynwood Walls

Happy Midweek Friends,

We are officially at the hump, I’m starting to feel the call of the weekend! We are all breathing a slight sigh of relief here at the schools…our 3d grade babies have finally completed their high stakes testing period for this school year. Now we bite our nails waiting for the scores *le sigh*.

On to something much more fun! During my spring break, I finally made it out to the Wynwood Arts district in Miami. I’m always getting tagged to great festivals and other events in this area so I just wanted to check it out. It’s a pretty hip area and it’s within driving distance of so many posh and hipster art gallery, restaurants and all of this DOPE art.  I decided to go for a bit of a hip hop B girl (refers to one who devotes themselves to the culture of hip hop; a breakdancer) chic look myself, rocking a striped pencil skirt and my favorite pair of high top chucks. Hope your hump day is a good one! See you soon dolls! Kisses! Besos! Bisous!
