Valentines …Galentines: It’s all about love!

Hey dolls,

Today I’m so happy to team up with these gorgeous ladies for this Valentines/Galentines post! To get a jump-start on your Valentines Day look we’re giving away a $50 gift card to Sephora. Good luck to you friends!

When I think of Valentines Day, it’s definitely a commercialized holiday that people go broke trying to keep up with the Jones; when in essence it should be a celebration of love. Love has no real price tag. After all true love is priceless and can’t be brought at all can it? Those of you who are fortunate enough to have fallen in love with your soul mate know exactly what I’m talking about! For those of us who are single, such as myself..the holiday reminds me that there is no love greater than self-love and before we can ever fully open ourselves to loving someone else we must first fall in love with ourselves! So please ladies, whether you are married, dating or single, take a moment this weekend to show yourself some love as well. In fact, make it a habit 🙂  I hope you have an amazing Valentines Day with your loved ones!

Valentines

Today’s look has me feeling fun, flirty and sexy! I absolutely love this jumpsuit from Express and the way it fits. It’s the perfect get up for a Valentines date with your man or a Galentines celebration with the girls. I paired it with the mandatory red needed for the holiday and I really love the outcome. Oh and don’t worry, I didn’t cut my hair but I did buy this amazingly adorable wig and had my stylist cut it into the style you see here. I feel like a completely different person, which is totally fun!

Kisses! Besos! Bisous!

Dressed2dNines: Inspiration

“Dressed 2 D Nines Inspiration”

Guest Written By: Elizabeth Harper/content writer at Mary Jane Fashion

It’s very rare that many of us have the opportunity to attend a black tie event, but when the time does come, there is ample inspiration from all of the red carpet events that take place throughout the year. Over the years, we’ve been witness to a plethora of gorgeous looks from some of our favourite stars, who have graced everything from the pages of glossy magazines to Instagram feeds and Tumblr posts. We have so much access to the red carpet looks of our favourite actresses and models that we are even able to research some of the older but still fabulous looks that they’ve worn in the past. At Mary Jane Fashion, we’ve done some slight digging around on the Internet, and here are three of some of our favourite ‘dressed to the nines’ looks that were stylish and timeless in their own inimitable ways.

1) Kerry Washington, 2014

dressed2dnines inspiration

For those of us who haven’t been pregnant, it seems like it might be quite difficult to style a baby bump, especially for high profile events like the Golden Globes and the Oscars during Awards’ Season. Yet, Kerry Washington seemed to effortlessly carry her pregnancy through with grace, style and a host of beautifully flattering gowns. The Jason Wu gown she wore to the Oscars in particular was textbook Kerry; the gown was luxurious but pared back, draping over her bump elegantly whilst a sultry split up the thigh kept her look youthful and fun. Letting her hair fall in Grecian goddess waves, Kerry was dressed to the nines and proved that having a baby bump was not a sartorial problem but something to accentuate and dress beautifully.
2) Cara Delevingne, 2013

dressed2dnines inspiration

Cannes Film Festival is one of the most glamorous events in the world based in the French Riviera, with the world’s most talented and creative talents flocking every year for a week and a half of sophistication and amazing films. In 2013, Cara Delevingne walked the red carpet at the premiere of Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby wearing an incredible black Burberry dress and dripping with Chopard diamonds. Her dress featured a camisole cut and long intricate lace sleeves which extended in a wide panel across her back (shop similar styles at Mary Jane Fashion). Her film star look was finished with a side hairdo, smoky eyes and red lipstick. Harking back to a bygone era but with a hint of that cheeky Delevingne edge, this is red carpet dressing and its most captivating.
3) Penelope Cruz, 2007

Dressed2dnines inspiration

If you can’t wear a floor-sweeping, frothy gown to the Oscars, when can you? In 2007, Penelope Cruz wore a divine Versace gown in a dusty pink hue. The strapless bodice, decorated with waves of fabric to contour her curves, fitted her figure before cascading out into a full skirt of feathers. The combination of fit and volume creates a look that is high-impact but elegant, and she was certainly one of the most memorable from the evening. Complementing her complexion to perfection, this dream dress cemented Penelope as a member of Hollywood royalty. She finished her look by sweeping her hair into an elegant bun and capturing the hearts and imaginations of fashion darlings everywhere.

Pin striped

Happy Monday gals and gents,

Another great weekend in the books. Saw the movie “The Perfect Guy” this weekend as well. I liked it, it was good. Not sure I’d say it was amazing but I generally don’t get to hyped up about a movie unless it involves a ton of violence, action and gore LOL. I’m a bit loopy that way!  I’m rocking another look by Choies today. This is another off the shoulder look with a twist 🙂 I love it with my gladiators, but it would look just as stunning in heels or other flat shoes. Hope you had an amazing weekend as well!

Please don’t forget to check out my FIRMOO giveaway, you have until this Friday @ midnight to enter to win!

Off The Shoulder Fab

Happy Hump Day Dolls,

Today I’m back with this little number from Choies. I really adore the color on me. I’ve seen so many off the shoulder looks this summer and I swear I’ve coveted them all! This on is actually inspired by a gorgeous chambray dress that Courtney Kerr wore on her blog this summer that I pinned. It’s such a simple dress but it really steals the show paired with accessories such as heels, booties or these lace up gladiators I’m wearing. A simple brooch and Ray Ban mirrored aviators rock this out to the max! Hope you love the look as much as I do!

Olive & Plaid

Happy Monday friends,

Hope you had a fun-filled and relaxing weekend! Can those two words exist in the same sentence together? I hope so LOL.  I almost didn’t make it out to do anything on Saturday because I literally spent the entire Friday feeling out of sorts. Woke up with a pretty bad sore throat , which later got joined with a migraine and body aches for pretty much the entire day. I had to skip the gym and retire to bed early and by Saturday I was back to normal. Thank goodness because I attended a great women’s seminar entitled “Money, Power & Respect.” I was able to network with and learn from some amazing women.  Secondly, I had a blast celebrating Rachelle’s dirty 30 birthday dinner at a pretty posh restaurant. So I’m glad I was able to attend both events.

Today’s look features a plaid shirt from Express that I first saw on Carylee and loved. I paired with these zippered cargo pants from H&M and this stunning gem and pearl headband from Irresistible Me.  I really love the finished look. The headband really took the look up a notch and tying the shirt at the waist was a hit for me. I wish I had done more than just go to work that day! Ever feel like you look way too hot for your real life?  LOL

Polka Dot Fever

Happy Labor Day!

I’m sure most of you are off shopping either online or in person or perhaps you are kicking your feet up at home. Currently I am doing the latter, I’m watching this new Netflix show called Narcos. It’s the story of Pablo Escobar. If you love movies based on crime drama with plenty of gruesome scenes and gun play, then you’ll love this show! I haven’t been able to take my eyes of the screen since it started.

Let’s get to the today’s look shall we?  I recently received some of the most darling hair accessories from a company called Irresistible Me. They are an online company who sells Hair Extensions, Wigs, Hair Tools, Hair Accessories and Hair Care products.  They are currently having a Labor Day sale for 25% off! What do you think of this piece? It’s called the Pearl Headband.

#SeeSummerBetter with Warby Parker

Hey Friends!

Today I am excited to partner with Warby Parker an eyeglass company for their #SEESUMMERBETTER campaign.  Their sunglasses start at just $95 and include free shipping and returns. Your purchase would also be doing something good in the community; as every pair you buy provides a free pair to someone in need. Another great thing about this company is they have a Home Try-On program where you can test wear 5 frames and decide on the ones you want to keep and simply return the rest.  I am taking some shots from my vacation travels this summer and pairing them with some stunning shades from their collection.

Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Joplin shades

If you ever find yourself in Paris,  Avenue des Champs-Élysées is the fashionista’s dream location! Who doesn’t enjoy streets lined with all kinds of high-end shops like Tiffany, Gucci and Louis Vuitton to chic and affordable ones like H&M, Gap and Abercrombie & Fitch. It also houses one of the biggest Haagen-Daz restaurants I’ve ever seen in life! The end of the long strip ends at the Arc de Triumph a simply breathtaking view at night. Tourist life requires being chic and comfortable. Here I’m rocking a hot pink dress with a light plaid button down and  gladiator sandals. I love these Joplin shades from Warby Parker, they are a great neutral tone that makes for the perfect accessory to this look. Simple yet never understated!

Notre Dame De Paris in Kincaid Shades

Notre Dame Cathedral was another highlight of my Parisian trip this summer. As a child I dreamed of being an architect and my love for structures with intricate lines and over arching angles has remained the same until this day. This church is magnificent in all it’s glory inside and out! A big floppy hat just wasn’t enough for how bright and sunny it was the day we visited. These Kincaid aviators from Warby Parker are perfect for the occasion in a brushed navy blue tint and shape that differs from your average aviator sunglasses. They definitely caught my eye!

London’s Big Ben in June Moonstone Shades

Sightseeing in London is amazing! The people are friendly, the pubs are filled with great food and music, and an Oyster card gets you a ride on the bus or Underground transit to hang out among the locals who are as diverse as their beautiful city. London to me felt like home away from home. Something about the vibe of this place just immediately put me at ease and I could totally see myself staying forever if it weren’t for the long flight to get back to the states to see my family LOL. The temperature does drop significantly when the sun goes down so travel with a sweater or light jacket during if you are vacationing there during the summer months. Here I’m rocking my chambray head wrap with a denim on denim look and these June Moonstone cat eye shades from Warby Parker provide the added vintage vibe I’m looking for.

Buckingham Palace in Henning Shades

I can just imagine the crowds that surround this place on a daily basis just hoping for a glimpse of royalty. We Americans are so enamored with all things British aren’t we? I would have loved to make it on the inside of this beautiful place. The grounds surrounding it were just as lovely. You cannot make it to London without making your way over to Buckingham Palace and taking a walk through the Princess Diana Memorial Park. My black and white grid cami complete with linen black shorts and gladiator sandals pair well with the Henning shades from Warby Parker in Jet Black with a sleek matte frame.
